Dutch gov't ups Jewish security funding after hundreds of antisemitic incidents recorded in 2025

The recent 'Discrimination Figures in 2025' report by the Dutch Public Prosecutor paints a disturbing picture. With 867 recorded antisemitic incidents, more than 400 of which were directed at Jewish targets, the statistics reveal a pervasive problem. These incidents range from graffiti and vandalism at synagogues and cemeteries to targeted harassment on streets and in public transport. Notably, over 70 incidents were linked to statements concerning Israel, Palestine, or Zionism, demonstrating how geopolitical issues are fueling local antisemitism.

What is particularly alarming, as noted by the Dutch National Coordinator for Combating Antisemitism, Eddo Verdoner, is the disproportionate nature of this hate. Jews, comprising less than 0.3% of the Dutch population, are the target of 26% of all registered discrimination incidents.
