Dutch Nurse Suspected in Deaths of Two Care Home Residents

A 26-year-old nurse, identified as Jelle D. from Oirschot, faces suspicion in connection with the deaths of two elderly residents at the Joris Zorg residential care center in Brabant.

He was initially arrested last Sunday on suspicion of involvement in the death of one resident, who passed away under suspicious circumstances the previous week. The Public Prosecution Office in Oost-Brabant announced on Wednesday that the ongoing investigation has uncovered indications that Jelle D. may have also played a role in the death of a second resident.

The care organization, Joris Zorg, stated it was "terribly shocked" by the news. A spokesperson told the ANP news agency that the situation is "terrible news for the relatives and also has a tremendous impact on colleagues and other residents." The center houses 130 residents, some of whom have dementia.
