Dwarf owl rescued in Benito Juárez after being unable to fly

Animal surveillance officers in Mexico City's Benito Juárez borough rescued a dwarf owl struggling to fly. The bird arrived at a home in the San Simón Ticumac neighborhood, where a resident found it and placed it in a cardboard box for safety. Brigadistas from the Animal Surveillance Brigade (BVA) of the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) responded to the report.

Specialists carefully transferred the owl to a transport cage and took it to BVA facilities in Xochimilco for veterinary attention. Veterinarians examined the owl and concluded that it likely had an altercation with another animal. This encounter caused injuries and feather loss, preventing it from flying.

The owl will remain under care and receive proper feeding for the next few days. Officials expect it to recover and regain its ability to fly. The SSC stated that the BVA actively rescues and protects wild and domestic animals in danger, urging the public to prevent animal mistreatment and seek specialized help for animals in need.
