Earning more than $20 billion a month, star footballer still drives a car worth under $250 million

João Neves surprised fans by arriving at Paris Saint-Germain’s training ground in a white, used Peugeot Partner rather than the sports cars and luxury SUVs commonly associated with football stars.

The compact van was designed mainly for cargo and business use. British media valued Neves’s 2021 model at about £7,000 on the used-car market, or roughly 246.4 million Vietnamese dong. That amounts to less than 5% of his reported weekly salary of around £150,000.

A TikTok video showed the Portuguese midfielder stopping the van outside the training ground to sign autographs before driving away himself. The image contrasted with the expensive cars often used by European footballers, some of which cost hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Neves, 21, joined PSG from Benfica two years ago in a deal worth about £60 million. In Paris, he quickly became an important player for Luis Enrique, forming a notable midfield partnership with fellow Portuguese international Vitinha.
