East Jakarta Court to Hold First Trial for Dokter Tifa in Jokowi Diploma Defamation Case

The East Jakarta District Court is prepared to commence the preliminary trial for Tifauziah Tyassuma, widely known as Dokter Tifa, on Thursday, July 2, 2026. Dokter Tifa faces charges of defamation and slander stemming from accusations that President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) diploma is fake.

"In principle, the East Jakarta District Court is ready to hold the first trial for Tifauziah Tyassuma or Dokter Tifa," stated Immanuel, Public Relations Officer for the East Jakarta District Court, on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. He confirmed that security measures have been coordinated with the police. Immanuel advised the public against gathering at the court, as visitor numbers will be limited, and encouraged them to watch the proceedings via television broadcasts. Media personnel will be permitted to cover the trial live, except during the evidence presentation phase. Live streaming by the public is also allowed from designated areas.

Polda Metro Jaya has named eight individuals as suspects in this case: Roy Suryo, Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar, Tifauziah Tyassuma (Dokter Tifa), Eggi Sudjana, Kurnia Tri Rohyani, Damai Hari Lubis, Rustam Effendi, and Muhammad Rizal Fadillah. The suspects have been divided into two groups. The first cluster includes Eggi Sudjana, Kurnia Tri Rohyani, Damai Hari Lubis, Rustam Effendi, and Muhammad Rizal Fadillah, who are charged under articles of the Criminal Code related to defamation and slander, as well as the Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE) Law.

The second cluster comprises Roy Suryo, Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar, and Dokter Tifa, facing charges under similar articles of the Criminal Code and various provisions of the ITE Law, including those related to spreading false information and defamation. Notably, the police have issued a cessation of investigation order (SP3) for Eggi Sudjana, Damai Hari Lubis, and Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar following their meeting with President Jokowi in Solo. Meanwhile, Roy Suryo is pursuing a pre-trial motion, with a decision expected on July 7, 2026. Dokter Tifa's case will proceed to trial.
