East Kalimantan Alliance Plans April 21 Protest Against Corruption, Cites Governor's Spending

A coalition of students and citizens in East Kalimantan is gearing up for a significant protest on April 21, aiming to root out corruption, collusion, and nepotism (KKN) within the provincial government and the Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD).

The protest, organized by the East Kalimantan People's Struggle Alliance, specifically targets Governor Rudy Mas'ud's administration. Key demands include a thorough audit of the provincial budget, particularly concerning the purchase of an Rp8.5 billion official vehicle and a planned Rp25 billion renovation of the official residence. The alliance also insists that the DPRD fulfill its oversight duties independently, free from familial influence, as the current DPRD chairman is the governor's brother.
