East Kalimantan Police Tighten Inspections on Freight Truck Roadworthiness

The East Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda Kaltim) are stepping up inspections of trucks and freight vehicles to curb the number of traffic accidents. The Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) recently conducted checks in the PT Kariangau Maju Perkasa area on Jalan Soekarno Hatta Km 17, Balikpapan Utara.

Kombes Pol Dr. Tedy Sopandi, Head of Public Relations for Polda Kalimantan Timur, emphasized that these measures ensure all freight vehicles meet technical requirements and are roadworthy. The inspections are a proactive step by Ditlantas to minimize accident risks stemming from vehicle condition.

During these "ramp checks," officers meticulously examine critical components such as braking systems, tire condition, and lighting functionality. They also verify the completeness of administrative documents and the presence of mandatory safety equipment on each vehicle. Beyond technical checks, personnel provide education to drivers and company representatives on the importance of regular maintenance, adhering to load limits, and practicing safe driving habits.
