Ebonyi Central needs inclusive governance, not politics of exclusion — Senatorial aspirant

As the campaign season approaches for the January 16, 2027, National Assembly elections, Ebonyi Central is focused on the senatorial contest between incumbent Ken Eze and former Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Benard Odoh. Odoh, running under the Nigerian Democratic Congress, has maintained a low profile, prioritizing diligent preparation over noise.

Odoh explained that his time since the party primaries has been dedicated to extensive consultations with stakeholders, engaging community leaders, and strengthening grassroots structures. He has also been refining a legislative agenda he believes reflects the aspirations of Ebonyi Central residents. Alongside his political preparations, Odoh continues to focus on his private business, which he states helps open international markets for African businesses through technology-driven trade infrastructure. This experience, he says, reinforces his belief that government should foster opportunities for enterprise and innovation, not hinder productivity.

Reflecting on the Nigerian Democratic Congress National Assembly primary, Odoh described it as a competitive contest. He found the greatest lesson to be that integrity, consistency, and credibility still hold value in politics. Odoh expressed gratitude to fellow aspirants, stating the contest ultimately strengthened the party. He also commended his party's leadership for resisting attempts to impose candidates and rejecting financial inducements, viewing it as a crucial step towards strengthening internal party democracy and combating the undue influence of money in politics.
