Osun senator under fire over ‘killings’ comments

Senator Francis Fadahunsi and Francis Eniade, a candidate for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin Federal Constituency, are under fire for issuing threats against members of the Accord party. The controversial statements were made ahead of the Osun State governorship election, with videos circulating on social media.

How many people have you seen the APC kill? We are here to tell you that until the day of the election, if we see any Accord member in Ilesha, we will kill him.

In one video, Senator Fadahunsi, speaking in Yoruba, allegedly threatened to "kill" any Accord member seen in Ilesha before the election day. Sources indicate this statement was made during a protest concerning the alleged killing of three All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Ilesha. In a separate video, Eniade, addressing a campaign rally, warned that Accord members should not come out to vote in Odo Otin Local Government Area, stating that all votes there belong to the APC.

I swear to God, anyone who is not an APC member should not come out on election day. If you said you won’t listen to us, we have warned you ahead. All the votes in Odo-Otin belong to the APC.

Governor Ademola Adeleke strongly condemned these threats, demanding the immediate arrest of Senator Fadahunsi. Adeleke described the senator's utterances as potentially leading to mass killings and a national security threat requiring presidential attention. He stated he had raised the matter with the Inspector General of Police, who confirmed the existence of the video and assured him of prompt action. The governor also called for an investigation and arrest of Fadahunsi for alleged "incitement to genocide."
