Ebonyi, Enugu pledge support as FG targets 4,000MW grid boost

The Federal Government's ambitious drive to revitalize Nigeria's power infrastructure is gaining momentum, with FGN Power Company Limited actively collaborating with subnational authorities in Ebonyi and Enugu states. These high-level engagements are pivotal to accelerating Phase 1 of the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI), a flagship program designed to transform the nation's energy landscape through the modernization of its transmission and distribution networks.

These meetings are a critical component of the ongoing efforts to accelerate Phase 1 of the Presidential Power Initiative, aimed at transforming Nigeria’s energy landscape.

Discussions with the Secretaries to the State Governments, Commissioners of Energy, and other key officials in both Ebonyi and Enugu are focused on ensuring seamless alignment for critical infrastructure projects. The FGN Power Company has reaffirmed its commitment to strategic stakeholder collaboration, recognizing that the success of the PPI extends beyond mere technical execution.

In Ebonyi State, a key focus of the discussions is the proposed Ugw અaji–Okposi 330kV double-circuit transmission line. This project is expected to significantly enhance power evacuation capacity, unlock stranded generation capacity, and bolster grid reliability across the South-East region. The Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government, Prof. Grace Umezurike, welcomed the initiative, pledging the state's full support to ensure timely project delivery, recognizing its importance for the state's development ambitions.
