Ecatepec gives 1,560 hearing aids to children and adults, surpassing program target, says Azucena Cisneros

Ecatepec’s government delivered 1,560 hearing aids to children and adults with hearing difficulties, surpassing the 1,200 devices originally planned under the municipal program.

Mayor Azucena Cisneros said the device represented more than equipment. “It is not just a device in itself, it is the possibility of leading a completely functional life, normalizing it, so that children can go to school and parents can also work and carry out their activities,” she said while leading the ceremony at the municipal government headquarters.

Cisneros said the program exceeded its target after more people submitted requests. “We said that no one who asked for this hearing aid should be left without one,” she said. Officials therefore completed all the requests received.

Edith Muñoz Jurado, head of the municipal DIF agency, said the program, called Ecatepec te escucha. Sonidos que cambian vidas, was created so that no one would be left behind. Its stated aim is to help people hear, participate, learn, live together and fully enjoy each moment of their lives. Actor and television host Raúl Araiza attended as the program’s guest patron and recognized its benefits.
