Ecuador and UAE Forge AI Cooperation Pact

Ecuador is actively seeking to enhance its technological capabilities and economic development through a strategic partnership with the United Arab Emirates. The recent visit of UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Omar Sultan Al Olama, to Quito underscores this ambition. During his meetings with Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Roberto Kury and other government officials, Al Olama's agenda focused on six key pillars: infrastructure, energy, oil and gas, logistics, innovation, and artificial intelligence.

The Ecuadorian government, under President Daniel Noboa, aims to establish collaboration mechanisms that will attract investment and accelerate technological progress. A central theme of the discussions was the application of artificial intelligence across various productive sectors to bolster the national economy. This cooperation is seen as a vital step towards digital transformation, with Ecuador looking to leverage the UAE's expertise in AI for its own development.

Beyond AI, the bilateral talks also delved into energy and logistics. Both nations are exploring projects in the oil and gas sector and seeking to optimize national logistics processes. Ecuador is emphasizing legal certainty for international investments, positioning itself as a secure destination for technical knowledge transfer and the implementation of AI in national infrastructure. While no specific agreements have been confirmed yet, the visit marks a significant milestone in Ecuador's efforts to broaden its economic horizons and consolidate an investment model focused on long-term growth and technological advancement.
