Ecuador begins notifying polling-station board members for 2027 elections

Ecuador’s National Electoral Council began notifying 288,949 citizens selected to serve as members of polling-station boards in the 2027 sectional elections and elections for the Council for Citizen Participation and Social Control.

The notification process began Friday, Sept. 4, 2026, and will continue through Nov. 14. The CNE will contact selected citizens through official email channels and through physical, in-person notices. Voters can use the electoral authority’s platforms to check whether their names appear on the approved lists.

University students make up 79.77% of those selected. The remaining members include public employees with professional degrees, private-sector employees with degrees, high-school graduates, rural residents, high-school students and citizens registered in the electoral roll.

Anyone notified must complete mandatory in-person training between Sept. 7 and Nov. 29. On election day, scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 29, each board will oversee the installation of the polling station, voting, counting and the packing and formal delivery of electoral materials to collection centers.
