Ecuador Police Dismantle Vehicle Document Forgery Ring in Guayaquil

Ecuadorian police have arrested ten people and dismantled a suspected document forgery operation in the coastal city of Guayaquil. The Interior Minister, John Reimberg, announced that the ring was involved in falsifying vehicle registration and inspection documents for various municipalities across the country.

During the operation, authorities seized approximately 5,000 vehicle inspection documents, nearly 2,000 stickers, 58 lithographic plates, six metal seals, three rolls of holographic material, and six mobile phones. These items are believed to have been used in the illegal production of official documents.

The seized vehicle inspection documents reportedly bore the names of several municipalities, including Bucay, San Vicente, Naranjal, Rumiñahui, Junín, and Balzar. The ten individuals arrested, seven men and three women, all Ecuadorian nationals aged between 24 and 67, have been handed over to judicial authorities to face charges.
