Ecuador's President Noboa meets with Japan's Foreign Minister

Quito, Ecuador – President Daniel Noboa held a significant meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi at the Carondelet Palace, marking the start of Motegi's Latin American tour and underscoring Ecuador's efforts to bolster international ties.

The high-level discussion centered on enhancing cooperation between Ecuador and Japan, with a particular emphasis on investment, trade, innovation, technology, infrastructure, and sustainable development. This meeting follows up on President Noboa's visit to Japan last year, aiming to build upon existing agreements and explore new avenues for collaboration.

The ministry reaffirmed its "commitment to continue exploring the existing potential" and indicated that discussions would cover economy, security, and environmental issues.

Motegi's visit to Ecuador is the third stop on his international tour, following Mexico and Panama. He is also scheduled to meet with Ecuador's Foreign Minister Roberto Kury to review the bilateral agenda. Japan aims to reinforce international ties across the region, seeking "greater resilience and prosperity together," according to a statement.

Japan highlighted its interest in collaborating on economic resilience and strengthening supply chains. The country also offered its expertise in disaster risk reduction and prevention, noting shared vulnerabilities with Ecuador, a significant crude oil exporter to Japan. Furthermore, discussions touched upon ongoing security cooperation between the two nations.
