Ecuador's World Cup 2026 path: From inauguration to debut against Ivory Coast

Ecuador is counting down the hours to its 2026 World Cup debut against Ivory Coast, with several days of official FIFA activities and tactical preparation ahead. While "La Tri" will not participate in the opening match, head coach Sebastián Beccacece will use the preceding days to finalize tactical and physical preparations.

The team's schedule includes training sessions at the Columbus Crew's training center in Columbus, Ohio, which will serve as their base. Limited press access is permitted for the initial 15 minutes of a practice session on Thursday. A second, fully closed training session on Friday will allow Beccacece to make final tactical adjustments before the team travels to Philadelphia, the venue for their first World Cup match.

Upon arriving in Philadelphia, Ecuador will conduct its official pre-match activities on Saturday. This includes a training session at the match stadium and a press conference with Beccacece, offering the last opportunity to gain insights into the team's lineup and strategy against the Ivorian side.

The highly anticipated debut is set for Sunday, June 14, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. This match marks the first fixture of Group E, which also includes Germany and Curaçao. Both Ecuador and Ivory Coast will have the advantage of knowing the result of the other group match before their own encounter.
