Ecuadorian universities included in QS World University Rankings 2027

The QS World University Rankings for 2027 have recognized six universities from Ecuador, with the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) leading the national contingent. The rankings, released on June 18, 2026, group institutions into bands rather than assigning exact positions.

USFQ is positioned in the 771-780 band, an improvement from its previous placement in the 801-850 range. Following USFQ, the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) and Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES) share the 901-950 band, both having moved up from the 951-1000 band. The Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE) remains in the 1001-1200 band, while the Universidad de Las Américas (UDLA) stays in the 1201-1400 band. The Escuela Politécnica Nacional (EPN) is listed in the 1401+ band, consistent with the previous edition.

Globally, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States tops the list, followed by Imperial College London and Stanford University. Within Latin America, the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA) in Argentina ranks highest at 84th globally. Despite the presence of six universities in the QS 2027 rankings, none from Ecuador feature in the top ten universities for the region.
