Ecuavóley Coliseum Shooting in Portoviejo Leaves Two Dead, One Injured

Two people were killed and one injured in an armed attack that occurred Sunday night, July 19, 2026, in the rural parish of Colón, Portoviejo, Ecuador. The shooting took place inside an ecuavóley coliseum in the El Cady area, where a group of people had gathered.

According to eyewitness accounts, several armed men stormed the sports venue and began shooting at those present. The attack resulted in the immediate deaths of two individuals at the scene, while another person sustained injuries. Local residents quickly assisted the wounded individual, transporting them to a health facility via a private vehicle for medical attention.

As of now, authorities have not officially released the identities of the victims or provided an update on the condition of the injured person. Following the incident, members of the National Police and Armed Forces arrived to secure the coliseum and commence their investigation.
