Edo APC hails LG poll, pledges 2.5 million votes for Tinubu

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared its overwhelming victory in the recent local government election, framing it as a strong indicator of the party's readiness for the 2027 general election. State APC Chairman Jarrett Tenebe announced that the party secured 2,158,600 votes and pledged to deliver 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming presidential election.

The APC secured 2,158,600 votes, an overwhelming mandate that is a clear expression of the confidence the people of Edo State have reposed in our great party, the leadership of Monday Okpebholo and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

Tenebe lauded the conduct of the local government polls, noting that elected chairmen and councillors will be sworn in September. He criticized opposition parties that questioned the election's fairness, contrasting it with the previous administration. Tenebe stated that Governor Monday Okpebholo's administration has expanded the democratic space, with 11 opposition parties participating, unlike in the past when the APC faced intimidation despite winning seats.

This resounding victory did not come by chance. It is the product of hard work, purposeful leadership, effective grassroots mobilisation, and the unwavering support of the good people of Edo State.

He highlighted the APC's victory in the 2024 governorship election against the PDP and the Obaseki administration, despite being in opposition. Tenebe extended an invitation for unity and reconciliation to those who lost the election, emphasizing that the development of Edo State is a shared responsibility. He urged all Edo people to join Governor Okpebholo in building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous state.
