Edo registers 131,165 new voters in continuous registration exercise

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Edo State, registering 131,165 new voters. The exercise, which spanned from August 2025 to July 2026, also facilitated 52,907 voter transfers and 19,565 requests for various corrections, including names, dates of birth, and addresses.

According to INEC's Edo State spokesperson, Toyon Buoro, the registration numbers varied significantly across local government areas. Owan West recorded the lowest number of new voters with 3,393, while Ovia North East registered 11,613 and Oredo had 9,544. The INEC State Office itself attracted the highest number of registrations, totaling 11,747.

These figures highlight the commission's efforts to update the voter roll, though the distribution of new registrations suggests varying levels of engagement or accessibility across different regions within Edo State.
