Eduardo Bolsonaro attends 'Dark Horse' premiere in US, calls it 'nightmare for the left'

Former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro attended the premiere of 'Dark Horse' in Las Vegas, a film inspired by the trajectory of his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro. He characterized the movie as a "nightmare for the left" and suggested it could achieve global success. The film's premiere was organized by American right-wing groups, and after the screening, Eduardo Bolsonaro participated in a panel discussion with the film's director, Cyrus Nowrasteh. "What I like most is the cultural war. For example, this film here will be a nightmare for the left. And it's not in Portuguese, it's in English, on purpose. If we do something in Brazil, they block it easily, but also because we want this film to be a world success," Bolsonaro stated, according to reports from the newspaper O Globo. He also touched upon legal challenges, mentioning a lawsuit filed by allies of current President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva that sought to prohibit the film's exhibition during the election period. This case was dismissed by the Superior Electoral Court. Concerns have been raised regarding the film's financing. The production is backed by banker Daniel Vorcaro of Banco Master, who has reportedly sent at least $10.6 million (approximately R$ 61 million) to the project. Vorcaro is currently imprisoned and under investigation for financial fraud. The Federal Police are also investigating whether some of the funds allocated to the film were diverted to cover Eduardo Bolsonaro's expenses in the United States. This investigation is occurring while the Supreme Federal Court (STF) has blocked accounts, making it difficult to receive funds in the U.S. During the panel, Eduardo Bolsonaro also addressed a case in the STF where he was accused of coercion during legal proceedings. He was alleged to have attempted to pressure Supreme Court ministers and influence the trial against his father concerning an alleged coup attempt. The event took place one day before the First Panel of the Court sentenced the former deputy to four years and two months in prison under a semi-open regime. Jair Bolsonaro's son criticized the STF ministers and the handling of cases related to the alleged coup plot.
