Education ministry faces scrutiny over tender for kindergarten teachers

A tender issued by the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Directorate of National Education has ignited controversy, with accusations that kindergarten teachers were to be sourced through a construction and catering firm. The tender, valued at 1.85 million Turkish Lira, was awarded to Klas Global Construction Catering.

The Afyonkarahisar Provincial Directorate of National Education sought to procure five paid teachers for a kindergarten's Children's Club. However, the nature of the procurement, involving a company primarily involved in construction and catering, has raised questions about the process and the qualifications of the individuals to be hired.

Defending the tender, the Directorate stated that the inclusion of the term "paid teacher" in the tender documents was an unintentional error. They clarified that the procurement was actually intended for "master instructors," suggesting a misunderstanding or misstatement in the official documentation. The Directorate maintains that the process was legitimate despite the confusing wording.
