Efakpokire, Orewa claim Prime Atlantic squash titles

Clement Efakpokire and Ngozi-Pope Orewa have emerged as the champions of the 2026 Prime Atlantic Squash Closed Tournament. The intense week-long competition concluded on Saturday at Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos, showcasing top-tier talent in the sport.

Efakpokire successfully defended his men's title, marking his second consecutive championship win after defeating Papa Ibru in the final. He described the tournament as challenging yet rewarding, expressing gratitude to Prime Atlantic for their sustained support of squash development in Nigeria. In the women's category, Orewa clinched the championship by defeating Nike Adebayo. She attributed her success to months of dedicated preparation, discipline, and consistent training. "Winning this championship is a great achievement for me. It took a lot of effort, practice and commitment to get here. I am grateful for the victory, and I am looking forward to more wins, better health and many more championships," Orewa shared.

The veterans' category saw Goke Adediran emerge victorious over Mabadeji Adeniyi. Adediran credited his extensive experience in squash, which he began at age 10 alongside his father, for his success. "I have been playing for a long time, so I believed I could go far. I knew whoever I met in the final would be difficult to beat, but experience helped me through," he said.

Sodi Pepple secured the super veterans' category title, finishing ahead of Mike Nwabuzor.
