Egbin Power begins 11th annual scholarship programme

More than 250 students from Egbin Power’s host communities have entered the 2026 pre-test exercise for the company’s annual scholarship programme, now in its 11th year.

The scheme will select outstanding pupils from primary and secondary schools and provide them with free quality education. This year’s programme will also include an education fair, a boot camp, mentorship sessions and playgroup activities.

Egbin Power said the activities are designed to improve academic performance while building life skills, discipline, confidence and leadership qualities. The company described the scholarship as part of its Personal Corporate Social Responsibility initiative and linked it to Sustainable Development Goal 4, which promotes inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning.

Bounour added that Egbin Power’s responsibility extended beyond electricity generation. “We also have a responsibility to help generate opportunities, nurture potential and enable dreams,” he said. The company said it also runs community initiatives covering healthcare, youth empowerment, infrastructure and human capital development.
