Egg Attack Disrupts Kosovo Parliament Session

Tensions flared in Kosovo's parliament when an opposition politician, Time Kadrijaj, threw eggs at acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti during a session. The dramatic act interrupted proceedings and led to security guards rushing to protect the prime minister. Kadrijaj shouted, "Shame on you!" as she threw the eggs.

Despite the disruption, Kurti remained unfazed, stating that he was willing to pay the price of being egged for the sake of dialogue. This incident highlights the deep political divisions and instability plaguing Europe's youngest democracy, which has held three elections in under two years.

The parliament is currently locked in a crisis over the election of a new president. Kurti's party, Vetevendosje, holds a majority but lacks the two-thirds majority needed to elect a president. The deadline for selecting a candidate has passed, and opposition politicians are threatening legal action after Kurti requested more time for negotiations.

This is not the first time the Kosovar parliament has witnessed unrest; members of Kurti's own party previously used tear gas when in opposition. The egg-throwing incident has further stalled parliamentary work, with no new meeting date set.
