Egypt, Chad discuss strengthening ties and regional cooperation

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty conveyed greetings from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby during a meeting aimed at bolstering bilateral relations. The discussion centered on deepening the strategic partnership between Egypt and Chad, fostering continued coordination on regional and international matters, and inviting Chad to the El Alamein Africa Business Forum.

Several Egyptian ministers, including those for Health, Transport, and Higher Education, attended the meeting. Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's appreciation for the unique Egyptian-Chadian relationship and the successful outcomes of their joint committee meetings, which have led to significant agreements. He emphasized a commitment to building on existing achievements, particularly in military cooperation and infrastructure development, stressing the importance of transferring Egyptian technology and expertise to Chad, especially in road construction and material recycling.

Discussions also covered health cooperation, with Egypt's medical convoys and projects in Chad noted. Transport and infrastructure cooperation, including a potential land connectivity project through Libya, were reviewed. Educational ties were also addressed, with scholarships for Chadian students and the expansion of Alexandria University's branch in Chad, which aims to serve students from across Central and West Africa, being highlighted. Both leaders exchanged views on key regional issues, particularly developments in the Sahel region.
