Egypt extends remote work on Sundays through August

The Egyptian government will continue its remote work policy on Sundays throughout August, a measure aimed at bolstering economic resilience and reducing government spending. The Cabinet approved a draft resolution on Thursday to extend the remote work system for employees subject to the Labor Law.

This initiative, initially implemented in April, was part of a broader strategy to mitigate the economic repercussions of regional conflicts and to conserve energy. The government has since extended the remote work arrangement on Sundays through May, June, and July. However, certain essential sectors, including public services, healthcare, transportation, industrial facilities, and educational institutions, are exempt from this policy.

The implementation of remote work is designed to be flexible within organizations. Specific tasks suitable for remote execution are identified, while a minimum on-site staff presence is maintained where necessary. This approach allows for operational continuity while adhering to the government's objectives of economic rationalization and energy conservation.
