Egypt launches early-warning drive against ‘Black Cloud’ air pollution

Egypt has begun preparing its annual campaign against the severe air pollution known as the “Black Cloud,” scheduled for autumn 2026.

Local Development and Environment Minister Manal Awad said authorities would use early weather forecasts and emissions monitoring to act before pollution levels worsen. Early-warning data indicate that stagnant or light winds could contribute to the conditions.
