Egypt opens $7.5 million expansion of modern lighting systems factory

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly opened a $7.5 million expansion of the FLARE factory, part of SIRAJ Group, during a tour of the Sokhna industrial area in Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone.

The factory produces modern LED lighting units for commercial, industrial, service and residential facilities, as well as green spaces. The expansion covers 1,100 square meters. After the project, the factory's total area will reach 3,000 square meters and total investment will rise to $11 million.

Madbouly said Egypt is focusing on localizing advanced engineering industries linked to urban development and infrastructure projects. He said domestic production of modern lighting systems would meet local demand, support national manufacturing and encourage more energy-efficient and sustainable solutions.

The head of the Suez Canal Economic Zone said the expansion demonstrated the ability of national companies to grow in specialized engineering industries. He said the project would strengthen local production, diversify the zone's industrial base and support the development of technology-based manufacturing for local and regional markets.

During the visit, Madbouly inspected testing laboratories, electronic-component production, laser metal treatment, aluminum-injection machines and finished products. Chairman Nabil Youssef said the factory would provide about 150 direct and indirect jobs. Its annual capacity includes 600,000 lighting fixtures, 1 million electronic boards, 2,500 tons of aluminum injection, 3,000 tons of electrostatic metal coatings and 7,500 tons of metal forming.
