Egypt's Petroleum Schools: A Detailed Look at Admissions, Fees, and Specializations for 2026 Intake

Petroleum schools in Egypt are emerging as a popular alternative for students completing their preparatory exams, drawing significant attention from both students and parents. These institutions offer a pathway to technical careers in fields like petroleum, electricity, mechanics, and automotive repair, directly addressing the demands of the labor market.

Study duration at these schools is typically three years, culminating in a technical diploma. Graduates can further their education by taking an equivalency exam to qualify for admission to certain government universities, adhering to the Supreme Council of Universities' regulations.

Annual tuition fees for public petroleum schools start around 2,000 Egyptian pounds (approximately $60) and can reach 5,000 pounds ($150) depending on the specialization. Private schools, however, can charge up to 15,000 pounds ($500) per year. Admission scores generally range from 140 to 240 out of a possible 300, varying by school, specialty, and governorate.

Available specializations include petroleum, electricity, mechanics, refrigeration and air conditioning, computer science, automotive, maritime transport and navigation, sewing machine maintenance, and ready-made garments (primarily for female students). Several schools are located across governorates like Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, Damietta, and Marsa Matrouh.

Prospective students will need to submit several documents for admission, including their birth certificate, preparatory exam results, parent's national ID, personal photos, a school application file, a health certificate, educational stamps, and an application form. The application period is expected to open after the results of the preparatory certificate exams are announced and the general secondary school admission scores are approved.
