Eid-el-Kabir: IG orders massive security deployment nationwide

Nigeria's Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings and mandated a significant security deployment across the nation to ensure peaceful celebrations. The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property during the festive period.

In a statement released by Force Public Relations Officer DCP Anthony Placid, the IGP directed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders in all state commands and the Federal Capital Territory to bolster security measures. This includes the strategic placement of tactical teams, intelligence operatives, and conventional police personnel at Eid prayer grounds, highways, motor parks, recreational centers, and other public spaces anticipated to experience high foot traffic.

Proactive policing strategies, such as visibility policing, coordinated patrols, surveillance, and intelligence-led stop-and-search operations, will be intensified. These measures aim to deter criminal activities and ensure rapid responses to any security threats during the celebrations.

Disu advised the public to promptly report any suspicious individuals, unattended bags, or unusual gatherings in public areas.
