Eid-El-Kabir: Lagos LG Chair Urges Muslims to Pray for National Security, Election Success

Princess Surah Animashaun, Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government Area in Lagos State, has called on the Muslim community to dedicate the Eid-El-Kabir celebration to fervent prayers for Nigeria's pressing security challenges. In her Sallah message, she urged all citizens, including Lagos residents and Epe indigenes, to transcend personal, group, and sectarian interests.

On this occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, I urge all Nigerians, as well as Epe residents, to rise above personal, group, sectarian and other interests, and to promote harmony and tolerance in dealing with one another at all times.

Animashaun highlighted the festival's significance of sacrifice, encouraging sober reflection and the promotion of harmony and tolerance in all interactions. She stressed the need to embrace the lesson of sacrifice for others, particularly for the less fortunate, stating that selfishness, greed, and corruption have no place in society. The council chair also called for support for the less privileged to ensure they feel a sense of belonging.

We must imbibe this lesson and make it a duty to sacrifice for others and to always remember those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Selfishness, greed and corruption have no place in our lives and in our dealings with one another.

Furthermore, Animashaun implored Nigerians to pray for the success of the upcoming 2027 general elections and to support leaders at all levels, specifically mentioning President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. She concluded by felicitating Muslims on the Sallah celebration and urging citizens to remain law-abiding and committed to constituted authorities.
