Eid-el-Maulud: Abiodun urges Muslims to embrace Prophet’s teachings of peace, compassion

Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has called on Muslim faithful in Nigeria to embody the Prophet Muhammad's teachings of peace and compassion during the Eid-el-Maulud celebration. The governor highlighted the Prophet's virtues as essential for fostering a united and prosperous society.

Eid-el-Maulud reminds us of the enduring values of love, compassion, patience, humility, justice and peaceful coexistence that characterised the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

Abiodun urged Muslims to let the lessons of the Maulud celebration extend beyond festivities, stressing the importance of tolerance, justice, and peaceful coexistence. He encouraged strengthening bonds of brotherhood and friendship among all Nigerians, regardless of religious, ethnic, or political differences.

The governor also appealed to religious leaders and the Muslim community to pray for peace and stability in Ogun State and Nigeria. He reiterated his administration's dedication to inclusive governance and improving the welfare of the people. Abiodun further encouraged extending the spirit of charity to the less privileged, emphasizing that caring for the vulnerable is a shared responsibility.

We should use this occasion to deepen our commitment to these values and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and friendship among our people, irrespective of religious, ethnic or political differences.

He expressed hope that the blessings of Eid-el-Maulud would bring renewed hope, peace, and prosperity, praying for divine guidance for leaders and unity for Nigeria.
