Eight arrested for alleged property dispossession in Mexico City

Authorities in Mexico City have arrested eight individuals, including five men and three women, in connection with an alleged property dispossession attempt in the Gustavo A. Madero borough. The arrests followed an alert about a potential illegal eviction in progress.

The place has been rented by a person for approximately 29 years.

According to reports, the group attempted to force open the door of a residence while others engaged in a physical altercation nearby. Police intervened to ensure the safety of those involved. A 43-year-old woman, who identified herself as the daughter of the property owner, stated that the tenant had been residing there for approximately 29 years.

They indicated that they had come to clean the place, which is why they were allowed access, and later, once inside, they presented a supposed document for the crime of dispossession.

The tenant recounted that the individuals claimed to be there for cleaning purposes, gaining entry before presenting a supposed document related to dispossession. They then informed her that she would no longer be allowed access and that the locks would be changed, which precipitated the dispute. The eight arrested individuals, aged between 24 and 39, have been handed over to the public prosecutor's office for further investigation.
