Eight New Private Vehicle Inspection Centers Open Alongside PUSPAKOM

Malaysian vehicle owners now have more options for pre-transfer inspections with the launch of eight new Motor Vehicle Inspection Centers (PPKM). These centers, which commenced operations on June 16, provide an alternative to the long-standing PUSPAKOM service.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that the new PPKMs, managed by Carro Technology Sdn Bhd, are located in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Melaka, and Johor. He emphasized that these centers adhere to strict standards set by the Road Transport Department (JPJ), including infrastructure, equipment, and system integration with MySIKAP.

"Vehicle inspectors must also undergo a certification program set by JPJ before being allowed to operate. Carro must also provide dedicated inspection lanes and separate staff for ownership transfer inspections in line with ISO 17020:2012 standards," Loke stated during the launch event.

The government encourages more companies to apply for inspection center licenses to expand the service nationwide, including Sabah and Sarawak. Companies like Carsome Academy, Car Medic, and Beriman Go are reportedly developing their own inspection branches. Loke noted that these mini inspection centers focus solely on private vehicle ownership transfers, not commercial vehicles like lorries or buses. The inspection fee is set at RM37.80, including Sales and Service Tax (SST), matching PUSPAKOM's rate.
