Eintracht Frankfurt Nears Signing of Goalkeeper Noah Atubolu

Eintracht Frankfurt is poised to end its goalkeeping uncertainty with the imminent signing of Noah Atubolu from SC Freiburg. The 24-year-old is reportedly close to finalizing a contract with the Frankfurt club.

Coach Adi Hütter expressed confidence in the move, stating, "The ink is not yet dry. But I assume that Noah will put his signature on the contract in the course of the day." He views the transfer as a significant step for the young goalkeeper, calling it "a good step for him, to go from Freiburg here to Eintracht, to a big club."

Atubolu is expected to be Eintracht's number one choice. "We have brought Noah in as number one. After the final training session, we will decide who will be in goal on Saturday," Hütter explained. He praised Atubolu's attributes, noting, "His dynamism is already extraordinary." Hütter also highlighted Atubolu's skills with the ball at his feet and his potential for further development, particularly "on the line."

Atubolu spent the last three seasons as Freiburg's regular goalkeeper but had signaled his intention to leave this summer. While a move to the English Premier League was rumored, it did not materialize. Freiburg had already secured a replacement, Mio Backhaus from Werder Bremen, for a reported twelve million euros, indicating they were planning for Atubolu's departure.

Atubolu has previously been nominated for the German national team squad, suggesting his potential to be a future successor to Manuel Neuer.
