Ekiti United coach quits after historic NNL run

Coach Bolarinwa Idris has officially stepped down as the head coach of Ekiti United, concluding a memorable one-season tenure with the Ekiti State-owned club. His resignation was tendered on Wednesday, marking the end of a period that saw the team emerge as a formidable competitor in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

During Idris's leadership, Ekiti United secured a third-place finish in the highly competitive NNL Conference B. The team amassed 30 points, falling just short of promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League. A significant highlight of his tenure was the club's exceptional performance at home, where Idris became the only coach in the NNL season to maintain a flawless record, winning all nine home games and earning the maximum 27 points available on home soil.

While speculation links him with other clubs for the upcoming season, Idris remained discreet about his next move. He indicated that discussions are ongoing but nothing concrete has been finalized. He plans to take time to rest and reflect before making his next career decision public. With over a decade of coaching experience, including stints with Phoenix Athletics Sports Club, Greenlock FC, and Grassrunners FC, Idris leaves Ekiti United with an enhanced reputation.
