#EkitiDecides2026: APC secures victory in PDP candidate’s stronghold

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has secured a significant victory in Ikere Local Government Area, the home ward of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate Wole Oloyede. In Saturday's governorship election in Ekiti State, the APC garnered 769 votes in Ugele/Aroku Ward, defeating the PDP, which received 683 votes.

The result, officially endorsed by the Registration Area Centre (RAC) supervisor, gives the APC an 86-vote advantage in this closely watched ward. This outcome is considered important given the political weight of Ikere Local Government, a major voting bloc in Ekiti State and the PDP candidate's base.

While the election was widely described as peaceful, pockets of complaints, particularly concerning vote-buying, were reported. As vote collation continues across the state, attention remains fixed on key battleground local governments that could ultimately decide the governorship contest. The final results will be announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after all local government areas have been collated.
