El Colorado to host world-class snowboarders for "Burton Day One" event

The renowned "Burton Day One" snowboard event is set to return to El Colorado on August 22, transforming the Región Metropolitana into a hub for both international and national snowboarding stars. This iconic gathering celebrates the legacy of Jake Burton Carpenter, the visionary founder of Burton Snowboards and a pioneer of the sport.

Carpenter's personal tradition of completing 100 consecutive days on his snowboard each season, often beginning his journey on the Chilean snow, inspired this event. The "Burton Day One" continues this spirit, offering invited athletes a unique opportunity to share the mountain with local enthusiasts and representatives of Chile's vibrant national snowboarding scene.

This year's event boasts an impressive lineup of talent. Among the featured riders is Iceland's Ylfa Rúnarsdóttir, a Sweden-based athlete on the European Burton team known for her street snowboarding skills. She made her debut at the X Games Aspen in 2025. Also participating is American slopestyle specialist Brock Crouch, who began competing at age six. Despite surviving an avalanche in Canada in 2018, he has returned to competition, achieving a podium finish at the 2020 Dew Tour.

Japan's Raibu Katayama, a halfpipe specialist who placed seventh at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, will return to Chile after his participation in the previous edition. The national representation will be led by 24-year-old Chilean rider Álvaro Yáñez, a multiple "Rey del Park" champion and South American champion.

The day's program includes a traditional mountain descent followed by an après-ski gathering designed to strengthen camaraderie among athletes, fans, and the broader snowboarding community. Early bird tickets for "Burton Day One" are currently available through the official Burton Chile website.
