Elderly man sent to prosecutors for attacking neighbor with weapon

An 80-year-old man has been transferred to prosecutors on attempted murder charges after allegedly attacking a neighbor with a weapon. The incident occurred on the morning of the 31st of last month outside the suspect's home in Iksan, North Jeolla Province.

Authorities report that the suspect, identified as Mr. A, dragged his neighbor, Mr. B (in his 70s), into his yard and attacked him. The motive for the assault remains unclear, with the suspect reportedly stating he could not recall the events due to illness.

A passerby discovered Mr. B collapsed in the yard and alerted emergency services. The victim was transported to a hospital and is currently in critical condition. Mr. A was apprehended at the scene as a 현행범 (caught in the act).

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack. Mr. A's claims of memory loss are being considered as part of the ongoing investigation into the brutal assault.
