Elderly Woman Reports Neighbor for Robbery, Mouth Still Taped Shut

An elderly woman in East Jakarta, identified as Hartati (61), arrived at the Cakung Police Station Sunday afternoon, her mouth still taped shut, to report a robbery by her neighbor. Police confirmed the incident occurred around noon in the Kampung Pisangan area. The victim was praying when she heard someone enter her home, initially mistaking the intruder for her child. However, it was her neighbor, Marhum, who allegedly threatened her with a machete, gagged her, and stole her belongings. The stolen items included 600,000 Indonesian rupiah in cash, a 1-gram gold earring, and a cellphone. The suspect fled, leaving the victim bound in her home. After managing to free herself approximately two hours later, the victim reported the incident to her neighborhood head and the police. Authorities quickly apprehended the suspect at his nearby residence. Police stated the motive was economic, with the suspect aiming to seize the victim's property.
