Emergency Technology and Early Warning Systems Exhibited in Jakarta

Jakarta hosted the Emergency Disaster Reduction & Rescue (EDRR) Expo Indonesia 2026, a significant event highlighting the evolving landscape of disaster management technology. Held at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran from August 12-14, 2026, the expo brought together over 80 companies, both domestic and international, to display cutting-edge solutions. These technologies span the entire disaster management cycle, from initial prevention and mitigation to emergency response and long-term post-disaster recovery.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Pratikno, stressed the critical need for rapid response to early warnings. He emphasized that advanced warning systems are only effective if translated into swift action by the public. "Warning systems are only meaningful if followed by early action. Let's not let sophisticated technology stop at the control room; information must become life-saving action for citizens," Pratikno stated, underscoring the urgency of bridging the gap between technological alerts and on-the-ground responses.

Indonesia's ambition extends beyond merely adopting foreign technology; the nation aims to establish itself as a global Center of Excellence for disaster management technology. Pratikno articulated this vision, stating, "Our target is clear: Indonesia becomes a Center of Excellence for world disaster management technology, not just a disaster laboratory or a disaster supermarket. Indonesia wants to achieve technological independence and continue to promote the domestic disaster industry." This goal necessitates fostering domestic industrial capacity through technology transfer, joint research, and strategic investments, positioning Indonesia as a leader in developing its own disaster resilience solutions.
