Emirati Racer Alia Abdulsalam Smashes World Speed Record in Formula 4 Powerboats

Emirati racer Alia Abdulsalam Fairooz has set a new world speed record in the Formula 4 powerboat category, clocking an impressive 129 km/h. She surpassed the previous record of 128.7 km/h, held by British racer John Brewer over a one-kilometer distance.

The record-breaking feat occurred during an official speed attempt on Lake Songe in Norway. This accomplishment signifies a major milestone for Emirati marine motorsport, underscoring the capabilities of Emirati women in competing and achieving success on the international sporting stage.

Abdulsalam's success follows a period of intensive preparation, including three weeks of technical trials. This rigorous program allowed her to refine her performance and reach the targeted speed. She is now preparing for her official participation in an upcoming international competition scheduled for November in the United Kingdom.

The new world record will undergo official certification procedures by relevant international authorities and federations. This recognition will mark Alia Abdulsalam as the first Emirati female racer to achieve such a distinction in the history of marine speed sports.
