Emotional images show six-year-old girl rescued after three days buried in Nepal mudslide

A six-year-old girl has been rescued after spending three days and three nights buried under mud in Nepal’s Timure village. Video shows a rescuer pulling Manisha Magar from the wreckage before carrying her away in his arms.

The girl was among those caught in a massive landslide that struck Timure on Aug. 26. After receiving emergency treatment, she was taken to hospital. Other footage shows people feeding her while she remains wrapped in a blanket. Nepalese authorities said she was finally safe.

The rescue came as the scale of the disaster continued to emerge. The provisional toll from the devastating floods had reached 903 dead and 4,247 missing, according to Nepal’s emergency management authority.

Footage filmed in the Himalayas captured a huge mass of ice and rock breaking away from a slope. The collapse triggered an ice-and-rock avalanche that entered the Lhende Khola river system, sending floods and torrents of mud downstream toward communities in the valley.

The Rasuwagadhi border crossing, between Nepal and Tibet, was among the hardest-hit locations. Floodwaters destroyed infrastructure there, while the full extent of the damage became visible only after the water receded and emergency teams reached isolated areas.
