The ordeal for 292 passengers stranded in Brazil has finally concluded as they boarded a rescue flight to Madrid. After more than two days of anxiety and uncertainty, the passengers were set to depart from Natal International Airport. The rescue flight, arranged by the airline Plus Ultra, faced further delays, with its departure time rescheduled multiple times. Initially planned for 6:50 PM and later 8:30 PM, the flight's departure was ultimately set for 9:10 PM on the day of the report. Plus Ultra cited "unforeseen operational circumstances" for the initial delays, stating they had provided accommodation and assistance to the affected travelers. Passengers were advised to remain at their hotels and keep their phones accessible for updates. The original flight had departed from Ezeiza Airport in Buenos Aires on Sunday, bound for Madrid, but was forced to make an emergency landing in Natal due to technical problems. Among the stranded passengers were the parents of Coti Camino, who described the situation as "completely frustrating" and questioned the airline's management. They noted that the tickets were not a low-cost option, costing $1,300. Soli Gómez, a 20-year-old passenger, expressed cautious optimism upon reaching the airport, stating, "So far everything looks good, but we have to see if it's true." She is awaiting boarding to return home. Earlier, as the rescue plane approached Natal, it crossed paths with another Plus Ultra flight (PUE502) en route from Ezeiza to Madrid, highlighting the ongoing travel disruptions. Bárbara Blum recounted her 77-year-old mother's experience on the original flight, describing "two loud explosions and smoke" near the wings before the diversion was announced about an hour later due to technical issues. Another passenger captured video footage showing exterior sparks on the aircraft before its emergency landing in Natal.
