Endorsing Tinubu won’t stop Adeleke from losing in Osun, Oyetola

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, has predicted a loss for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke in the upcoming governorship election. Oyetola, a former governor of the state, stated that Adeleke's endorsement of President Bola Tinubu would not secure his victory.

They realised that they are already losing out. Then they claimed to have endorsed us. He almost cried. Endorsement cannot retain this seat for you. We are taking it over.

Speaking to All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders and supporters, Oyetola, who lost his re-election bid to Adeleke in 2022, addressed allegations of intimidation against APC members and Accord Party leaders. He suggested Adeleke's complaints signaled a loss of control over the state, asserting that the APC would reclaim the governorship seat.

"If you like, make 10 endorsements, we will collect this one from you," Oyetola declared, dismissing Adeleke's repeated public references to him. He added that if he were to engage Adeleke directly, the governor would feel the impact.

Adeleke, running for re-election with the Accord Party, faces APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji. The election is anticipated to be a close contest, with both campaigns intensifying their efforts. The political climate in Osun is tense, characterized by mutual accusations of violence, intimidation, and the arrest of supporters.
