England Football Legend Kevin Keegan Dies at 75

Kevin Keegan, a towering figure in English football and a two-time European Footballer of the Year, has passed away at the age of 75. His family announced his death, stating he had been battling cancer and was surrounded by loved ones in his final moments.

It is with immense sadness that we announce that Kevin Keegan has passed away at the age of 75.

Keegan enjoyed a stellar playing career, beginning his professional journey with Liverpool in 1971. At Anfield, he formed a formidable partnership with John Toshack, securing three First Division titles, two UEFA Cups, an FA Cup, and the prestigious European Cup in 1977. He scored 100 goals in 323 appearances for the Merseyside club.

Kevin had been battling cancer and was surrounded by his wife and daughters in his final moments.

His success continued in Germany with Hamburg, where he was twice crowned European Footballer of the Year in 1978 and 1979, also winning the Bundesliga title. After his time in Germany, Keegan returned to England, playing for Southampton and then Newcastle United, whom he famously led to promotion back to the top flight. He also earned 63 caps for the England national team, scoring 21 goals and later captaining the side.

A double Ballon d'Or winner, Kevin was a much-loved husband, father and grandfather.

Following his playing career, Keegan transitioned into management, notably leading Newcastle United to the brink of the Premier League title in the mid-1990s. He also managed the England national team from 1999 to 2000 and had subsequent spells managing Manchester City and returning to Newcastle. His impact on the sport as both a player and a manager left an indelible mark on English football.
