Jakarta's provincial government is revitalizing urban tourism with a new Open Top Tour route, offering a unique perspective on the capital's blend of historical charm and modern dynamism. The "Jakarta Batavia" route, inaugurated by Deputy Governor Rano Karno, allows passengers to journey from the bustling Sarinah area to the historic Kota Tua, traversing districts that showcase Batavia's layered past and the city's ongoing transformation.

This initiative is designed to do more than just add a travel option; it's a strategic move to invigorate historic areas and extend tourist engagement. By providing a comfortable and scenic ride, the open-top buses aim to encourage longer stays and foster economic activity among local businesses, culinary vendors, and artisans along the designated path.

"Through the Open Top Tour, the public and tourists can enjoy Jakarta's modern side, history, and culture within a single service that supports Jakarta's vision as a cultured global city," stated Rano Karno. The Jakarta Batavia route operates three times daily, with tickets available for Rp75,000 through the Transjakarta app.

The addition of the Jakarta Batavia route brings Transjakarta's Open Top Tour offerings to four. Complementing this are the Jakarta Skyline route, showcasing the Sudirman-MH Thamrin panorama; Jakarta Heritage, focusing on historical sites and buildings; and Jakarta Explorer, highlighting various city icons. These services signify a shift in public transportation's role, transforming buses into mobile platforms for introducing the city's history, architecture, and identity.
