Enner Valencia reveals Hernán Galíndez influenced his move to Boca Juniors

Striker Enner Valencia has revealed that fellow Ecuadorian and goalkeeper Hernán Galíndez played a significant role in his decision to join Argentine club Boca Juniors. Valencia, who recently played his second match for Boca against Racing, stated that Galíndez's advice was crucial before he made the move.

"Hernán Galíndez had a lot to do with it," Valencia told the media. "Before coming here, I spoke with him a lot because he knows what the atmosphere is like, what the environment is like. All these days I have been seeing him and adapting to Argentine football, to living together, and I think I can get better every day."

Valencia and Galíndez share a strong connection, both being key players for the Ecuadorian national team. Galíndez, an Argentine naturalized Ecuadorian, currently plays for Huracán, where another Ecuadorian player, Jordy Caicedo, also features. Galíndez joined Huracán in 2024 and became its captain. He has represented Ecuador in the 2022 and 2026 World Cups alongside Valencia.

Valencia officially signed with Boca Juniors on August 9, 2026, after concluding his second stint with Mexico's Pachuca. He made his debut for Boca on August 18, 2026, in a Copa Sudamericana match, and has since played in a 1-1 draw against Racing. During the Racing match, Valencia also encountered another compatriot, Alberto Campo, who plays for Racing.
