Entangled in Online Gambling, Father and Son Cooperate to Steal Motorcycles at 12 Crime Scenes

A father and son duo in Bali have been arrested for a string of motorcycle thefts, allegedly committing 12 robberies across Denpasar and Badung regency. The Denpasar Barat Police apprehended the suspects, identified as IGN, 44, and his son IGNK, 25, following a report of a stolen Yamaha NMAX. The victim reported their motorcycle missing from a hotel basement on July 20.

According to police, the father and son confessed to stealing motorcycles that were not locked and then pushing them away using their own bikes. They admitted to selling the stolen vehicles through online marketplaces using a cash-on-delivery system. The money earned was reportedly used to cover their daily living expenses and fund their online gambling activities.

We have successfully uncovered motorcycle theft committed by two perpetrators who have operated in 12 different locations. The two perpetrators are father and son.

Of the 12 crime scenes, seven fall within the jurisdiction of the Denpasar Barat Police. The remaining five incidents occurred in areas outside their purview, including Padang Luwih, Buluh Indah, Gatot Subroto Timur, and two locations in Dalung, Badung regency. The police have secured the suspects and are continuing their investigation to uncover any further involvement in similar crimes or additional crime scenes.

The perpetrators also admitted that all stolen motorcycles were sold through the marketplace with a cash-on-delivery (COD) system. The money from the vehicle sales was used to meet daily living needs and play online judi (gambling).
